THIS TIMELINE TRIBUTE WAS LOVINGLY PREPARED BY JAMIE-LEIGH'S GRANDMOTHER, BETTER KNOWN AS NANA. THIS WAS TRULY A LABOR OF LOVE AND WE APPRECIATE THE EFFORT THAT WENT INTO IT. WE KNOW THE AMOUNT OF SMILES, TEARS, PAIN, AND JOY THAT SHE PUT FORTH.

Hi, My name is Jamie Leigh Britt. I was born on September 14,1987, in Galveston, Texas, at 11:58 P.M.. I weighed 8 lbs and 15 oz.and was 21 inches long. Granny Francis and NaNa were there to help Mom welcome me. Mommie and I had to spend a few days in the hospital.
My NaNa came to get us from the hospital. On our trip home I went on my first outing. We stopped at Peking, a Chinese restaurant in Beaumont, for lunch. That was the beginning of many trips to Peking through the years.
Being the Princes that I was, if mom and NaNa wanted eat at Peking, they would first have to go by McDonalds, to get my favorite Princess meal "buger and fries", then they would go to Peking, pay a $1.00 so I could bring my meal in, and then they could eat.
We got home and got me setled in .We were happy to get home. My Dad was working in California when I was born. When he knew I had arrived, he bought me a little white Lamb.He caught a bus and headed for Texas to see his Girl. Lambie is still in the attic, put away with many more toys of mine that have accumlated through the years. My Dad thought that I was the most beautiful baby ever born.
After a time, I started Day Care so I could be with other kids. Mrs. Opal was my favorite person there. There were a couple of times, I had to report to mom that Miss Opal was trying to make me eat "scabbage" ( cabagge) and once she was trying to feed me "grass" ( salad). Everyone thought I was a silly Kid..

When I was about 18 months old, I was in a auto wreck. I had to be life- flighted to Beaumont. My family was so afraid they were going to lose me at that time. I was in a coma for 4 or 5 days. There was lots of praying going on. I think I may have visited with Jesus at that time and He let me stay with my loving family for a few more years. I didn't have any after effects from the injuries. Thank God for that.
I always spent lots of time with my NaNa. We were big buddies. I know she loves me so much. My favorite place was in the living room. There was a coffee table that had 2 doors on the front. I called it my "oven" I always put my favorite toys, or the cat or dog in the oven. If anything went missing, NaNa would check in the oven. Most of the time the missing items were there. NaNa's poor little dog "Bingo", a little white toy poodle, I am surprised he survived me. I was always putting diapers, dresses, etc. on the poor dog.
My PaPa worked and stayed in Baytown, and only came home on week-ends. It was O.K. for the first day;by the second day I thought he had been in mine and NaNa's space too long. I would tell him "it was time for him to go back to Baytown" He should have spanked me but he never did. |

| THE MIDDLE YEARS |
|

In 1995 Na Na and PaPa took me and my cousin Tonisha to Disney Land in Orlando, Florida. That was an awesome trip. There's one ride I will never forget, "The Tower of Terror". It was fun, but very scary. That same trip we went to Daytona Beach for a week. Lots of fun.
I got to the age where I wanted to do things. I was in acrobatics, tumbling, twirling, dance, karate, and played little league baseball. Always wanted to be busy.
I was real involved in my church. I joined the Bible Quiz team for several years. I won ribbon and trophy's for that. We went to lots of different places and had lots of fun.
I can't tell you every thing I ever did in my life. It would take all the memory on the computer. My NaNa and Pa PA always took me on vacation with them. Every year we would go to Branson. That is a real neat place to go and lots of things to do. We would also go to Galveston Island and to Lake Palestine up near Tyler.
I had a pretty full life and got to go to lots of places and do lots of things. I think I was a little spoiled, but I tried my best not to show it.
When I was ten years old I got a little brother, James Britt III. We are really close and love each other so much. My Nana and PaPa are raising him. We have spent some good times together. When our Dad got Killed in an auto wreck in Dec 3, 2002, it really hurt us both so bad. That Christmas I think everyone was in shock.
On Christmas Vacation 2003, NaNa and Pa Pa took James and I on a cruise to Mexico. That was a fun time. I would go to the teen clubs at night. We were in Belize on Christmas Day. And James went to Camp Carnival every day. He liked that. While we were there I got to swim with the string rays. That was exciting.
When I got older, they would get me and Mom condos at different places. I could take friends with me.Once my Brother Michael went with us. I think he enjoyed it.
I have really had quite a full life. By looking at some of my pictures you might would think, " my she must be an unhappy child all the time." But I wasn't. I just didn't like to have my picture taken.
About my brother Michael, he is about 4 years older than I am, and has a different Mother. I didn't really get to know him until I was about 13. But we have grown real close. He is married and has 2 beautiful children, Jaden is 4 and Jake is 1. Jaden, I claim her as my child. I love her so much and I am going to take her when I get older. I keep her days at a time now. Jake is still a little young.

| THE FINAL YEARS |

I have just about run out of things to tell about me. I have my brothers, Kenny, Michael, and JamesIII, and my sisters,Stacie & Kelie, and Mom. I know they all love me and would walk thru fire for me if need be. I have 4 nephews, Tyler and Adam Abalos, Justin Keen, and Jake Coleson, and one niece, my heart, Jaden Michele Coleson. When Tyler was small he couldn't say my name so he called me "Menenia"" He still calls me that. I love them lots.
My Senior year has been so busy. I have tried to accumulate some college credit so that I will be a little ahead when I start college in the fall. I have been working after school and weekends, busy busy.
My NANA and PaPA have told me when I graduate they are going to give me their Tahoe. I just didn't know if I can wait that long. But guess what? When I got a job they decided I needed transportation then. So they bought me a 2004 truck. I got it in Nov.2005. I was so shocked. I just couldn't believe that I got a ride before I graduated. Do you think I am spoiled yet?
I have my class ring, my prom dress,& my diploma in the bag. have been accepted into college in the fall. I have lost about 80 lbs since Jan. I can't wait.
Oh the prom was just wonderful. We had so much fun. Todd and I had a Blast! My friends, Stephanie and Alex, were with us--- a night to remember!
It is 2 weeks since prom. Had to come home from work. So sick. Going to ER. Hope they can give me something for this pain.Next day, going to my DR. No one knows what is wrong with me. I am so sick. Made it through the week-end, going to try to go to school today but don't think I can stay. Going back to school; wait, God is calling. I have to go now. I Love you all, will see you in Heaven. Don't cry for me, I will be fine. I will be with my Dad. MAY 22,2006 |
